A Rich History & a Bright Future
As 2025 comes to a close, we want to thank you, our customers, for all you do to foster the special relationships of growing families while helping ensure that every baby has the best and healthiest start in life. We are so grateful to be your partner in delivering childbirth and early parenting education to growing families in your community.
The end of the year and the holiday season are a time of reflection, so we thought we’d look back at our rich history as we look forward to another year of the privilege of being able to partner with our customers, the dedicated caregivers upon whom expectant and new parents rely.
Read on to learn five fun facts about Childbirth Graphics’ rich history as we look forward to partnering with you again in 2026 to nurture healthy babies and grow healthy families.
Fact No. 1: Our Foundation Is a Passion for Health Education.
Childbirth Graphics was founded in 1980 by Jamie E. Bolane with the goal of creating materials to improve maternity care for all women. Bolane drew upon her combined backgrounds as a childbirth educator, designer, and consumer advocate to establish a company focused on providing growing families with engaging educational resources for each stage of pregnancy, labor, birth, breastfeeding, and early parenting.
In 1993, Childbirth Graphics became a division of WRS Group, a family of companies (which also includes
Health Edco and
Health Impressions) dedicated to innovative 3-D displays, hands-on models, informative print products, and promotional materials aimed at improving lives through health education and awareness. WRS Group was founded in the 1960s by Wayman R. Spence (WRS), M.D., a pioneering anti-smoking advocate. Today, through our offices in Waco, Texas and the United Kingdom, WRS Group provides life-changing health education across the globe, sending hundreds of products to more than 100 countries.
Fact No. 2: Our Popular Training Models Are Go-To Resources for Professional Training.
In addition to creating great educational resources for expectant and new parents and models and activities for educators to use while teaching expectant and new parents, Childbirth Graphics produces must-have training models that have been used for decades to train childbirth educators.
Fact No. 3: Our BIOLIKE™ Is What Makes Our Models So Lifelike!
If you’ve ever wondered what makes our fetal models feel so irresistibly lifelike, helping expectant parents get a true sense of how their baby is developing in the womb, the answer is BIOLIKE! BIOLIKE is our unique, proprietary polymer that feels like actual human skin. Dr. Spence introduced this special polymer in 1975 with the debut of breast self-exam models for the early detection of breast cancer. The unparalleled, soft, realistic feel of BIOLIKE makes it perfect for Childbirth Graphics’ fetal models as available with our
Uterus/Fetus Model Set, Fetus Model Set (available in
beige and
brown), and
Life Unto Life™: The Early Weeks of Pregnancy Display.
