Oh, You Beautiful “Doll”!
Four Great Infant Teaching Models

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a demonstration or an engaging activity is priceless! When it comes to childbirth education, this statement is absolutely true: Our versatile selection of childbirth model sets and educational activities have delivered memorable, educational lessons to expectant parents and students for more than 30 years.

No childbirth or parenting education demonstration or activity would be complete without an infant model that is tailored to the purpose of the lesson. Childbirth Graphics has unique infant models that are specifically designed for labor and birth, breastfeeding, parenting, and childcare education demonstrations and activities.

Read on to learn more four special Childbirth Graphics infant models, but don’t call them “dolls”! Each of these models is actually a sophisticated educational tool that educators can use to teach lessons that nurture healthier babies and help parents and caregivers respond appropriately to infant needs.

Models for Childbirth & Breastfeeding Demonstration

Available in beige, brown, and dark brown skin tone, our soft cloth Fetal Model represents a full-term baby and is ideal for labor and birth education. Lightweight and durable, the model flexes to demonstrate all presentations and positions. The model’s plastic head has palpable anterior and posterior fontanels. To facilitate demonstrations, the hands snap together, and another snap on the model’s belly is positioned to attach our Placenta/Cord/Amnion/Chorion Model (available separately). Designed for delivery through our pelvis models, this childbirth education essential is available on its own or as a component with our many popular childbirth model sets.
A time-tested customer favorite, our Lactessa Breastfeeding Model was created specifically for lactation education, making her perfect for classroom or one-on-one breastfeeding instruction. Lactessa’s weighted body and head give her the feel of a newborn in your arms. Her movable and flexible arms, legs, and head allow realistic demonstration and practice of breastfeeding positions. With a cupped tongue, Lactessa’s open mouth is deep enough to insert a finger to teach suck training with accuracy and feel the hard palate. Featuring a washable cloth surface and cloth diaper, the Lactessa Breastfeeding Model is the breastfeeding teaching tool educators turn to again and again.

Models to Teach Infant Care

Never, ever shake a baby—that’s the message powerfully conveyed by our Shaken Baby Demonstration Model. Great for childcare and parenting preparation classes, this infant demonstration model raises awareness of SBS (shaken baby syndrome, which is also known as abusive head trauma). Have a volunteer shake the model, and then viewers will watch through the infant model’s transparent head as the brain violently slams inside the skull, just as a real baby’s brain tragically would when an infant is shaken or mishandled. Shaking a baby can cause permanent brain damage, blindness, and death. Using the model for demonstrations is an unforgettable way to reinforce the importance of proper care and handling of infants to avoid SBS, which is completely preventable.
Our new My SmartBaby Infant Simulator is the ultimate infant simulator to teach the essentials of infant care and promote teen pregnancy prevention while giving instructors the convenience and flexibility of managing the entire experience with a mobile app. The simulator provides a realistic simulation in infant care lasting up to 48 hours by requiring students to respond to a variety of basic infant care needs, such as feeding, burping, diaper changing, rocking, and more. The simulator also has sensors that detect and report mishandling, such as being shaken or dropped. My SmartBaby comes with multiple accessories and downloadable materials, including an activity guide that highlights the essentials of infant care and why breastfeeding is the optimal way to nourish infants.
